Aka Joe

One of those quiet but deadly funny types and is truly unique. He’s got his own way of seeing the world and every day reminds me why I fell in love with him. I can honestly say that in our years together there is not a day that has gone by where he has not made me laugh at least once. Our story is a simple one, I knew on our second date that I was going to marry him, but he would tell you he knew on the first. I believe on our fourth date he handed me a key to his house and asked me when I was moving in, the rest is just boring daily life stuff with the exception of making two beautiful girls but I’ll get to them later.

He seems a bit out of place in this generation with his old fashion morals but also has an intriguing progressive (albeit some-what depressing) view on life.  His utopia of existence would include a cabin in the woods, electricity optional, manly beard essential, with little more than a wood burning stove, our dog Henry and an array of tools. If he felt like spoiling himself access to music via record player and an endless supply of books. He enjoys bats, bears, bagels, boilers, baseball, beer, brown (favorite color), boobs, baking, books, bass (guitar), bacon, basements, and bratwurst. I asked him once if he was more inclined to like things starting with the letter B simply because he likes the letter, he replied “perhaps”.

I would describe him as one who subscribes to the philosophy of stoicism (however to be clear he does not “subscribe” to anything,  it simply speaks to his true nature) – which is completely at odds with my in your face emotional tirades. Truth be told I think he finds my dramatic escapades a bit odd in a funny sort of way, he’s admitted he likes our differences (although he said it in manner suggesting he finds them more amusing than holding any merit to what I’m really feeling). When I lose my self control, I apologize and I am always forgiven with a “meh, it happens” response and it’s immediately forgotten.  I’m learning to take a page out of his book, it’s a slow process but I’m getting there.
